Finding and Accessing Moodle
- Peralta's designated LMS (Learning Management System) is Moodle; the version currently in use is 2.9
- Every class in the Peralta District will have a Moodle "shell" (a Moodle class page) automatically created for it before the semester begins
- When instructors are assigned to a class in PROMT, they will automatically be assigned to the corresponding Moodle shell
- Each semester, Moodle is set up with a different site address:
→ click here to link to Peralta's Fall 2017 Moodle site
- If you logged into Moodle previously, your user name and password will be the same as before
- If you are new to Moodle, your username is your PROMT username, and your password is your Employee ID#
- When you log in the first time, and at the beginning of some semesters, you will be required to change your password
If you have trouble accessing Moodle contact your college's DE Coordinator or send an email requesting loging & password assistance to [email protected]

Managing Video and Audio
Please link to video or audio files from an outside source, and do not upload video or audio files into your course unless they are very small in size. The District's Moodle server is not set up to stream media, so your students will need to download the entire file before they can play it on their computer. Imagine the download traffic for just two classes of 30 students each. They also need software on their computer to play the video or audio file.
If you use your own video or audio files, here are a few offsite options (there are many others):
- 3cmediasolutions.org - a free repository for community college faculty, managed by the State Chancellor's Office; you'll need to register for an account
- YouTube - a YouTube or Gmail account is needed; information on how to upload a video to YouTube
- Vimeo - a Vimeo account is needed (see terms of free and paid membership); information on how to upload a video to Vimeo
- Screencast - screen capture and editing tools; free version up to 2 GB storage and 2 GB monthly bandwidth
